Invest in Yourself: A Global Learning Week

Synopsis

At a turning point in its transformation, a global bank faced the challenge of making learning more than a policy. In response, one of our founders designed Global Learning Week, an initiative that united 55,000 employees across 65 markets under the theme “Invest in Yourself.” The week did not just deliver skills; it created a culture where learning became everyone’s business.

The Story

The bank was changing rapidly. Technology was reshaping the industry, new platforms were being introduced, and the demand for sharper skills was clear. A digital learning platform had been launched to make development accessible in the flow of work, but employees still saw learning as optional, something to do after the “real work” was done.

Leaders recognised that access alone would not shift mindsets. Employees needed encouragement and permission to prioritise development. That insight sparked a bold idea, a movement that would make learning visible, celebrated, and embraced across the organisation.

The Spark

The vision took shape as Global Learning Week. The theme “Invest in Yourself” reminded employees that growth was not a distraction; it was an investment in their future and the organisation’s success.

For one week, learning became the priority. Employees across 65 markets joined workshops, digital programmes, and sessions with partners. Leaders participated too, sending a strong message that development mattered at every level.

The Impact

The results were powerful. More than 55,000 employees took part, average e-learning days increased, and engagement with the new platform rose sharply. More importantly, employees felt empowered to learn.

Global Learning Week showed employees that development was not an interruption; it was part of the job. It created a visible shift, giving people confidence to invest in themselves and showing that the company was investing in them as well.

Why It Matters

This story proves that building a learning culture is not about technology alone; it is about creating moments that shift mindsets. With the right push, learning becomes a shared value, not just an individual task.

Global Learning Week was more than an event; it was a turning point. It proved that culture can be changed at scale, and that the most powerful investment any organisation can make is in its people.
